Let us remember a courageous hero: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

Subhas Chandra Bose is a prominent Indian leader who goes by the name Netaji, meaning “Respected Leader”, as given by the countrymen. He was the one who gave us the light to follow the right path and hence became one of the most celebrated leaders contributing to the Indian Struggle for Independence.

Today, January 23rd marks the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and the day is celebrated as “Parakram Diwas”. As “parakram” means courage in English, it was recently announced that his birthday is celebrated as “PARAKRAM DIWAS” in honor of his contributions to the freedom struggle. This day honors his enormous contributions by designating his birthday as “the day of courage.”

Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage and respect to the leader and tweeted:-

Netaji was born in the year 1897 in Cuttack, Odisha, and died on August 18, 1945, before seeing India independent for which he struggled a lot. He was one of the Indian revolutionaries who played a prominent role in the independence movement against British rule of India. He was a contemporary of Mahatma Gandhi and was known for his militant approach to independence and for his push for socialist policies.

Rabindranath Tagore gave the title of ‘Desh Nayak’ to Subhash Chandra Bose in recognition of his service to the nation and its people.

Bose quoted the famous term ‘Jai Hind’ in his book ‘The Indian Struggle’ which covers the Indian independence movement from 1920 to 1942. His famous slogans include ‘tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe aazadi dunga’, ‘Jai Hind’, and ‘Delhi Chalo’.

After all these years, we should not fall back on remembering legends as such in our country and pay homage to the real heroes.
