Google launched AI powered search in India, thus making search more interactive and convenient

Searching for information has become synonymous with “Google it” which we often use in daily life. And when it has become an essential part of our life it needs to be convenient to search for information on it. Google has done something similar and has finally integrated generative AI in Search. Today it officially announced the rollout of SGE as an experiment in Search Labs in India in English and Hindi. Google aims to receive feedback in the upcoming days and improve accordingly.

The new AI capabilities will make it easy for a user to understand a topic by searching it on Google and new internet users will also benefit from this. Puneesh Kumar, General Manager at Google Search has written in a blog post “With new generative AI capabilities in Search, we’re now taking more of the work out of searching, so you’ll be able to understand a topic faster, uncover new viewpoints and insights, and get things done more easily. Especially for new internet users, who may often get overwhelmed with the amount of information online, finding an answer more quickly can help ease their journey of discovery.“

The capabilities of this integrated generative AI can be understood by an example, let’s say you searched for the question “What would be the best time to visit Himachal and how should we prepare for it”

Now you might break this into two different questions and sort through the vast available information but with generative AI you won’t have to do this much. Because AI will not only present you with the answer or results in a crisp manner but also with links to dig deeper into the information. You can also look for follow-up questions that keep the context of the question the same from question to question thus solving your query.

India Focused Features

Some of the unique features have also been added that are unique to SGE in India. It includes switching from English results to Hindi results by tapping the language toggle button. A “Listen button” will let users listen to the response with Text to Speech that will also be rolled out soon for the users. A number of other new features will also be added in the upcoming days that will not only make it easy to get relevant results from Google in one go but will also make it more interactive than ever before.
