Hurricane Fiona Update – The whole of Puerto Rico is under a complete blackout due power grid failure

According to a recent turn of events, Puerto Rico is under a complete blackout due to power grid failure. This news has been confirmed by Governor Pierluisi of Puerto Rico. He made a statement on Facebook; Emergency incidents are being reported as a result of #HuracanFiona.

Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica and LUMA Energy report that due to the effect of the hurricane, the electrical system is currently out of service. Protocols have been activated according to plans established to address this situation. Staff at both LUMA and AEE are active and ready to respond to the situation once conditions allow. Rivers out of its cesspool are also reported in different regions of Puerto Rico. We emphasize that the safety of everyone is the priority at this time. NMEAD personnel is actively responding to those emergencies where citizens’ lives are in imminent danger.
