Researchers at the Chinese University of Hong Kong created a magnetic slime robot by combining borax, polyvinyl alcohol, and neodymium magnet particles. Due to the fact that it is a non-Newtonian fluid, it can act both like a liquid and a solid. It can mend itself even when broken into two or more pieces. This has been noted before, but it seems to be a turd. The cutting-edge cybernetic invention was recently covered in a case study published in the journal “Advanced Functional Materials.”

By combining neodymium magnet particles with the common household cleanser borax and the glue polyvinyl alcohol as the initial component so it can be magnetically controlled, Zhang and his team developed the ground-breaking ooze. The harmful magnetic particles were then coated with silica to make them potentially safe for usage within the human body.
By adjusting a magnetic field, the slimebot can be made to fit into tight spaces, change into various forms, and grasp objects like an octopus tentacle. The robot was designed by the researchers to be a tool for non-invasive medical treatments, but due to its adaptability, it may be used for a wide range of applications.

If you can get beyond the fact that it looks quite fecal, you can use the slime robot to remove potentially lethal items like tiny batteries if they are accidentally ingested. According to The Guardian, different colors or dyes might be added to the slime in the future to give it a more appealing hue.

Scientists say there is still a tonne of work to be done before we are even questioned if the magnetic goo can enter your body to collect that Hot Wheels you ate. For the time being, the slime doesn’t have a lot of autonomy.
