When Chandrayaan-2 did not achieve the desired soft landing on the surface of the moon in the year 2019, not only scientists but Indians were also disappointed. This year Chandrayaan-3 has given hope to many as the rocket has been launched successfully. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has officially announced the successful launch.
The Chandrayan-3 mission was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 2:35 PM on 14 July, Thursday. The spacecraft was launched aboard India’s heaviest rocket, Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3) on a journey to the moon. It is said that the landing on Moon is expected to be by August end. Till now ISRO has also mentioned that” Chandrayaan-3, in its precise orbit, has begun its journey to the Moon. The health of the spacecraft is normal.”
If ISRO pulls this mission successfully, India will join an exclusive list of just three other countries- the US, the erstwhile Soviet Union, and China that have managed a soft landing on the Moon. The scientists with this mission aim to master the technology of soft landing on the surface of the Moon.
Let’s wait for more updates from ISRO about the journey of Chandrayaan-3 and hope for positive news coming our way.
