Micromax is known as a mobile handset company that once used to give cutthroat competition to other international handset makers in the Indian market with its trendy yet affordable handsets. Though it could not keep itself updated with fast-changing market trends and lost track later. It tried to make a comeback but nothing came from the fortune of the company. Though it has always been in the heart of Indian buyers as handset makers now it seems it’s working on changing its image.
A recent report says that Micromax is looking ahead to enter the electric vehicle manufacturing space in India.
According to the TechCrunch report, the company’s top executives’ layoff in recent months was in line to step in the EV manufacturing step. Co-founder Vikas Jain has also departed the firm who once replaced the Co-founder Rahul Sharma as Managing Director. The report also says that in February company’s founders Rajesh Agarwal, Sumeet Kumar and Vikas Jain formed a new firm with the name of Micromax Mobility. Its headquarter in Gurugram is also being revamped in line with its decision to step into the EV field.
Though Micromax has not made any announcement regarding this and is expected to come in the upcoming days. It would be very hard to thrive in such a competing EV market for Micromax where Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and Matter Aera already have a firm grip.
