Anupama Upadhyay becomes the new junior No. 1 in BWF rankings

The badminton player has jumped to first position in 18 tournaments with 18.60 points, Anupama climbed up two spots, she is one of the four Indian girls in the top 10 of the junior rankings.

She becomes only the second shuttler to reach the first position in the BWF rankings, the girl, hailing from Panchkula had earlier made a name as junior international in Uganda and Poland. Thus, removing her fellow teammate, Tasneem Mir from the top spot.

Apart from her, Tasneen, Anvesha Gowda and Unnati Hooda are also in the top 10 position on 2nd, 6th and 9th positions respectively.

Moreover, she has also currently entered the top 100 in the senior category, Anupama is at the 63rd spot at the moment and also made it to the semi finals of the Syed Modi International tournament in January earlier this year.

Afterwards, she also made a place in the quarter finals of the Orleans Open Super 100 competition.

As far as the boy’s category is concerned, Aditya Joshi, Cyril Verma and Lakshya Sen were also in top in the world rankings in the year 2014, 2016 and 2017 respectively.
