The first Redmi tablet was released in India by Xiaomi the day before. The tablet, simply known as the Redmi Pad, has some good specializations and is reasonably priced.

The phone has an all-metal body, a 90Hz display, an Helio G99 processor, and a large 8,000mAh battery. With a starting price of Rs 14,999, the Redmi Pad will compete with Oppo’s Pad Air and the Realme Pad.

Oppo does not specify the brightness count but does state that the Pad Air supports 2048 levels of adaptive brightness.

Processor – The Redmi Pad is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor powers the Oppo Pad Air. The Realme Pad is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 processor.

RAM and storage – The Redmi Pad is available in three configurations: 3GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB. The Oppo Pad Air is available in two capacities: 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB. Realme Pad is available in two variants: 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB.

Redmi Pad is powered by MIUI 13, which is based on Android 12. Xiaomi promises three years of security updates and two more Android versions (13, 14). Oppo Pad Air is powered by ColorOS 12 for Pad, which is based on Android 12. Realme Pad Air is powered by the Realme UI for Pad, which is based on Android 11.

Telecom Nokia is set to boost its manufacturing capacity in India by 1.5 times over the next few years. The move has come to support the 5G services roll-out in the country, said Tarun Chhabra, the company’s country head of mobile networks business, to the Business Standard.

Moreover, Nokia is supplying network equipment to Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio for their 5G networks from its plant in situated Chennai. However, Vodafone Idea has still not taken a call on their contract as it wants its funding beforehand, as quoted by the Business Standard.

“We have been preparing ourselves for 5G deployment in India for more than a year — whether it is upskilling our people, increasing production, or hiring the right talent. With a huge demand for equipment coming up from India, we will need to ramp up manufacturing to meet this requirement. We could be looking at an enhanced production capacity of 1.5x in the next few years,” Chhabra said on the platform of India Mobile Congress.

“We have invested over Rs 600 crore to manufacture telecom products worth Rs 3,500 crore annually, with over 50 per cent for export,” added the head.

Furthermore, the Chennai plant has already started ramping up the manufacturing facility to hold up more production from the first quarter of CY23 and it aims to gradually increase it to 1.5 times of the current level, based on what the market demands.

Microsoft has claimed that Sony and Nintendo will “remain the biggest” players when it comes to “traditional gaming”, although its going through the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard goes through.

The company recently launched a new website designed to voice its perceived benefits of the acquisition, as the deal continues to be scrutinised by competition regulators all throughout the world.

According to a deal claimed, “benefit the gaming industry”, and that it would lead to “greater competition in traditional gaming, where Sony and Nintendo will remain the biggest”.

Although, it’s not clear completely what Microsoft means by the look of “the biggest”, whether this means it feels Sony and Nintendo will continue to sell more consoles after the acquisition, or that it simply considers them the “biggest” competition out there.

“Players and developers are at the center of Xbox,” it argues. “We want to enable people to play games anywhere, anytime and on any device.

“And developers deserve more options to build, distribute and monetize their groundbreaking games. When we do this, we all win. That’s why we’re sharing more on the industry and how our acquisition of Activision–Blizzard fits into our gaming strategy.”
