Twitter Blue subscription is no more, because now it’s X Premium

Musk is obviously not done with the changes in X formerly known as Twitter. He made a number of changes and the biggest one that we saw recently was rebranding Twitter as X. Now he seems to have made a change in the name of the earlier known Twitter Blue subscription to X Premium. You read it right and this update has been seen in a recent Twitter post by Musk in which he was elaborating on a newly added ad revenue share feature.

Musk wrote “To be eligible for your ad revenue share, you must be an X Premium (Blue) subscriber. The ad money will otherwise be kept by X if you are not an X Premium (Blue) subscriber. This program is open to everyone.”

So not only the name of the feature has been changed from Twitter Blue subscription to X Premium but also the perks that it will come with. The X Premium means users will be eligible for the ad revenue share from X formerly known as Twitter. But the catch is X Premium subscribers will require at least 15 million total impressions on their posts in the last three months, have at least 500 followers, and must be at least 18 years old.

The 5 million to 15 million impression requirement

Surprisingly when X formerly known as Twitter announced this feature, any Twitter Blue subscriber with just five million impressions in each month for the last three months could be eligible for ad revenue sharing. But a recent post shared by Musk shows that the criteria have been increased from 5 million impressions to 15 million impressions which are quite high.

Users were shocked by the criteria when it was first announced and now when it has gone higher than before it is more likely to be favorable for big names and creators on X. And there can be a rise in radical posts that spark more responses in comparison to other content just to invite as many impressions as possible.

X shares the ad revenue with users based on advertisements posted in the comments of user tweet replies. It’s quite similar to TikTok where ads are posted in comments rather than on the main feed. In upcoming days X can undergo numerous changes and we all are well aware of Musk’s vision to make an everything app like WeChat.
