Nokia has announced the rollout of the September security update 2023 for the Nokia smartphone and one that has received it first is Nokia XR21 5G. This update is 63.26 MB large and addresses issues related to the security discovered by Google. Google has mentioned this on its official Security bulletin page regarding the September Security update
“The most severe of these issues is a critical security vulnerability in the System component that could lead to remote code execution with no additional execution privileges needed.
User interaction is not needed for exploitation. The severity assessment is based on the effect that exploiting the vulnerability would possibly have on an affected device, assuming the platform and service mitigations are turned off for development purposes or if successfully bypassed”.
Users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings and searching for the latest update. It is advised to download it over Wi-Fi because it may incur some additional charges on cellular data.
