The Bharat NCAP will be activated later this year. Ahead of this, many vehicles are voluntarily taking safety tests as part of the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign. In the latest developments, the Hyundai Verna bagged a top Global NCAP rating in terms of adult and child occupant safety.

The Global NCAP test assessed the Hyundai Verna in its most basic passive safety features first. This includes testing the vehicle’s safety with 6 airbags and ESC. The structure was unstable; however, the model was marked with a five-star rating for adult and child occupants’ safety.

After executing the side impact test, the vehicle was then tested for a Child Restraint System (CRS) which failed. However, upon performing a higher energy side impact test, the CRS didn’t show any further signs of failure.

The Global NCAP’s crash test includes an assessment of frontal and side impact protection for all models. Along with it, the Electronic Stability Control (ESC), is also assessed. To score a high star rating, a vehicle should pass pedestrian protection and side impact pole protection assessment.

Alejandro Furas, the Secretary General of Global NCAP welcomed Hyundai to the five-star club in the Indian market.

Homegrown company Ather, which is also India’s third largest e-scooter maker after Softbank Group-backed Ola Electric and local TVS Motor, is looking ahead to launch new models and test the export markets in the upcoming days. In a report by Reuters, the chief executive of the company said they will raise funds to boost the growth of the company after the government’s decision to lower the subsidies for the vehicles.

The Indian EV market is growing with each passing day but it recently saw a fall in sales after the government slashed the cash incentive on the electric two-wheeler from 40 percent of the ex-factory price of vehicles to 15 percent.

Like other brands, Ather’s sales also dropped after this but CEO Tarun Mehta said in an interview that the company is working on launching two new models in the market and one will be launched six months earlier than originally planned. He further said the change would not have any effect in the mid or long term and Ather is aiming for more than 50% of sales from the global market by the end of this decade.

He also mentioned during his interview given to Reuters that the company will raise funds to support its growth plan. As per the report, Ather can raise from its existing shareholder Hero MotoCorp up to $108 million.

The Tata Nexon EV facelift will be available in three broad variants Creative, Fearless, and Empowered.

The Nexon.ev features smart Digital DRLs. The new design has incorporated R16 alloy wheels with aero inserts.

The Nexon.ev has a stylish 2-spoke back-lit smart digital steering wheel, a physical control panel, and a digital shifter.

The Nexon.ev also features V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging technology, with which you can charge another EV. It also features V2L technology.

The vehicle has an App suite, Arcade.ev, with which you can download your apps.

The vehicle has a JBL Cinematic Sound system with a spatial, immersive 360 3D surround sound experience. It has up to 9 speakers and multiple audio modes.

The vehicle also allows you to have a 360-degree surround view of whatever surrounds you.

Some other additional features of the vehicle include SOS call, ESP with iVBAC, Hill Ascent Control, Hill Descent Control, Auto Hold, All Disc Brakes, and Front Parking Sensor among many others.

The vehicle is capable of a range of up to 465 km.

Last month, Xiaomi’s upcoming MS11 electric vehicle was spotted on the roads of Xinjiang in China and two Xiaomi officials were seen inside the vehicle. It was understood that the EV was in its testing phase and was spotted in a highly camouflaged state. Following this, a new update has arrived, pointing out that Xiaomi has entered its MS11 EV for trial production.

This update comes from a Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station, who has shared the news on Weibo, China’s microblogging platform. The tipster has also posted the question “Is it about to be released?”

As per what was revealed before, it is suggested that Xiaomi will unveil its EV only next year, in Q1 2023, and the launch is expected to take place by the mid-half of the same year. If the news regarding the EV entering trial production is true, then there is a great chance that it will have its debut much ahead of the expected launch date.

About the EV, from what we now know, the MS11 EV from Xiaomi will have a self-developed new software, chipsets, and a lot of other accessories within it. We are also aware from reports that two versions of the EV will be made available – one with LiDAR and the other without it. It will also have a center console with sharp edges, and also yellow calipers on the wheels, all of which were revealed when the EV was spotted being tested.

Nexon. ev will be the first EV to sport Tata’s new electric brand identity- Tata. ev. The new teaser showcases a split headlamp setup along with a full-width LED DRL that runs across the bonnet. From the teaser, it could be seen that Tata is planning to bring visual differences between Nexon ICE and EV models.

It is expected to arrive with new alloy wheels while in the teaser the SUV can be seen in a grey color variant. The connected tail light setup seems to be a carbon copy of the ICE-powered Nexon. It is also said to include features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a new touch, and toggle-based HVAC controls, a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, and ventilated front seats.

Tata Motors is believed to have renamed Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max as Nexon EV Mid-range and Nexon EV long-range variants. While it is expected that the new Nexon EV will continue to be offered with 30.2kWh and 40.5kWh battery packs.

The pricing details of the new Nexon EV are expected to be revealed along with the ICE Nexon in mid-September.

Tata Nexon facelift- the SUV about which we have been recently updating you has finally been unveiled by the company. This SUV has been officially confirmed to launch in India on September 14 while it’s booking will open from September 4 only.

Apart from its exterior design, the interiors of the SUV are also officially revealed by the company. Its design seems to be inspired by Curvv and Harrier EV concepts.

The interior of the SUV sports a new touchscreen setup and a two spoke steering wheel. AC vents are now slimmer and the dashboard consists of fewer physical buttons. The interior is covered in black and purple shades while it features a 10.25-inch floating screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and the latest version of Tata’s IRA-connected car technology. It also employs a new 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display which can now show the navigation also.

Nexon facelift also gets a touch-enabled climate control panel, height-adjustable co-drivers seat, and a 9-speaker JBL system. It also includes an electric sunroof, wireless charger, automatic headlamps, wipers, and automatic AC. It arrives with 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and a blind view monitor.

On the exterior side, it gets a split-headlamp setup with a sequential LED daytime running light. Nexon facelift arrives with a new accent line and new alloy wheels. At the back it contains full-width LED light bar and the reverse light has moved to the bumper. The DRLs are connected by a slim upper grille and headlights are placed in a trapezoidal housing.

Nexon facelift arrives with a 120hp, 170Nm, 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine that is available with 4 gearboxes option and 115hp, 160Nm, 1.5 litre diesel that is available with a choice of 2 gearboxes.

The TVS Apache 310 Street will have common features and components with the BMW G310R and Apache RR310. To deliver a distinctive profile, changes to the front fascia, alloy wheels, exhaust, and colors will be made.

Even though this bike has the same engine just like the RR310, this bike will deliver more performance than the RR310 because of the 10 kg weight difference. The 310 Street version is 10 kg lighter than the RR310. With the reduced weight, fuel efficiency is also expected to get higher.

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari launched the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) on Tuesday, 22 August. Along with the launch, the logo for the Bharat NCAP was also revealed. The Bharat NCAP star rating stickers will now be seen soon in cars and the minister has reported that they are hopeful that all cars would have the star rating stickers soon.

According to reports, the authority will implement the Bharat NCAP from October 1, 2023.

For the unversed, the Bharat NCAP is India’s own car safety standard programme, which plans on enhancing the car safety standards of the nation. The Bharat NCAP highly focuses on vehicles which weigh more than 3.5 tonnes.

The aim of the Bharat NCAP is also to develop and work upon the movement and sense of “aatmanirbhar” in the automobile industry.

As part of the tests for Bharat NCAP, vehicles would be cross-tested on the basis of front-impact, side-impact and side-impact pole tests. Reports have stated that many manufacturers in the nation have proceeded to evaluate about 15-20 of their models for the Bharat NCAP programme.

It is to be noted that as of now, the EVs aren’t part of the Bharat NCAP programme yet.

To register for crash tests under the Bharat NCAP programme, manufacturers or importers will first have to submit an application (Form 70-A) to the designated agency under the government. Subsequently, the authority will randomly select cars for the crash test. The process would be undertaken with the involvement of representatives of both the Bharat NCAP team and manufacturers.

Xiaomi first announced its MS11 electric car two years back, in late March 2021, and in the month of September of the same year, the company’s electric car wing was formed, as per what reports say. Its very first electric car, the MS11, was part of many previous reports and some of the renders of the upcoming EV have already been published online.

Now that Xiaomi’s EV has reportedly been spotted on Chinese roads in Xinjiang, some more details of the EV are made available to us. To add, MS11 was spotted in an extremely camouflaged state but, even if this is the case, the design language of the car seemingly aligns with the renders that have already been published online.

The Chinese manufacturer is said to launch two versions of the EV, one with LiDAR and the other without it, and now, it has been revealed that the EV has a center console that will have sharp edges, along with yellow calipers.

Reports are also pointing out that at least four EVs from Xiaomi have allegedly been spotted and two Xiaomi officials, including the Xiaomi China CEO – Lei Jun, were seen to have been in the cars that were being tested. To add more claim to this, both the officials – Lei Jun and Lu Weibing, posted on the Weibo platform from the same location where Xiaomi’s MS11 was being tested and Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO’s post shows us the testing team.

It is likely that Xiaomi might unveil its MS11 electric car in China in the first quarter of 2024 and if all goes well, the brand will probably launch the company’s very first EV by the mid-half of next year.
