Tata Motors might bring in a new Jeep-like rugged SUV in the entry-level segment, aims on competing with Thar and Jimny

Tata Motors seems to have plans of bringing a new lifestyle-friendly SUV in the entry-level segment. This new SUV is looking forward to competing against the likes of Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimmy.

According to reports, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Motors made statements during the Tata Motors’ 78th Annual General Meeting, which suggested the possibility of a new Jeep-like rugged SUV. He further expressed in the meeting that the company is invested in exploring different market segments.

Reports also suggest that this new SUV in discussion won’t be a rip-off or imitation of any existing model. The company seems eager to produce a fresh SUV, which can target the niche competitive SUV segment.

As of now, the company hasn’t revealed any detailed possible features or specifications. However, one can speculate on the possibilities of the upcoming SUV.

Since the suggestions state that the new SUV would be a Jeep-like rugged SUV, we can think of their Curvv or revamped Sierra, which are notable names by Tata Motors in the rugged SUV segment.

Competing with Mahindra Thar or Maruti Suzuki’s Jimny however, isn’t going to be that easy. The Thar has gained massive success by selling about 1 lakh units, ever since it was launched in 2020. On the other hand, Jimny has marked about 50,000 booking statistics, which makes it another product that already has a good hold of the market credibility.

After recent inputs, we can now wait for Tata Motors to share more information about the upcoming SUV. The market will anticipate the same and look forward to teasers, unleashing, and inputs about the features and specifications.
