How about a Mahindra Thar EV, a Thar Electric Concept to soon be unveiled in a Mahindra & Mahindra’s global event in South Africa on 15 August 2023

According to the latest developments, the Mahindra Thar is on its way to get an Electric Vehicle treatment. Mahindra & Mahindra will have a global event in South Africa on August 15. During this event, Mahindra will reveal the Thar Electric Concept.

The Thar is one of the most widely accepted and sought off-road vehicles. Now with Mahindra’s plan of giving an EV dose to the Thar, the EV concept will sit on a 4 x 4 set-up.

The Thar EV concept will feature a quad-motor set-up. Secondly, the steering capabilities of the concept would incorporate crab steer or crab walk. The wheels of the concept would be able to turn up to a near-45-degree angle. This would keep up with the off-road characteristics of the Thar, enabling the concept to roll sideways even in a congested parking space. A 360-degree turn will also be effectively possible because of this feature.

Although there aren’t many inputs regarding the Thar EV platform, we can consider the possibility of Mahindra incorporating the new dedicated-EV platforms which they are presently working on.

Although the market is curious about the concept and is anticipating to see it soon, riders are of the view that an Electric Thar is not that urgent as of now. There are other domains that Mahindra should be working on.
